Flexible Heating Elements

Silicon tape and flexible heating elements are generally used for applications where gentle warming is required. Due to their flexibility they are ideal to affix to uneven surfaces or coiling around pipe work. Manufactured using silicone rubber as the prime material, they can be shaped to suit almost any contour or surface. They are resistant to corrosion, moisture, chemicals, weathering, weak acids and vibration and can be manufactured to almost any shape, size or specification.

Types of Flexible Heating Elements

Blanket Heaters

Blanket heating elements are very flexible and they follow most single plane contours. They are able to withstand a uniform pressure of 200 lb. in2 and can be tied, clamped or bonded into position. These elements offer a gentle and very uniform heat distribution making the idea for any warming application requiring even heating. Hotco flexible blanket and tape heaters consist of a nichrome wire sandwiched between two sheets of fibreglass cloth impregnated with silicone rubber.

Manufacturing Data.
Max Size (mm) 1050 x 3000
Thickness (mm) 3
Min/Max Surface Temp (°C) -70 / + 200 °C
Surface Power Density (Watts/cm2) Up to 0.5
Voltage Max (V) 415

Tape Heaters

Hotco silicon rubber tae heaters are manufactured using the same process as for flexible blanket heaters - it is only the shape which varies. In applications where a standard pre-cut size is not suitable, Hotco can usually meet the special needs of special lengths, voltages and wattages.

  • Fibreglass Insulated Tape

FKPG heating elements are individually insulated and integrally woven into a heavy duty glass fibre carrier. Cold-lead tails are double glass insulated and silicon varnished. The standard cold length is 500mm.

  • Anti-Condensation Tape Heaters for Motors

The FACH range of electric tape heaters are typically used in electric motors, generators and alternators which operate in damp, humid or wet conditions. The tapes are sized to fit around the stator pack covering at least 70% of the circumference. FACH tape heaters are manufactured using a Glass Fibre Braid to Temperature Class C. They are supplied with 500mm cold leads (Tefzel).

Belt Heaters

Commonly used for heating drums of viscous products such as oils, honey, waxes and grease and various chemicals. Flexible belt heaters are suitable for light duty applications heating standard steel drums and containers to lower temperatures up to 40°C. Simply wrap around the drum and tighten via the spring hook assembly. It comes with or without adjustable thermostat and does require a flat surface (ie. Not for dented drums) in order to achieve a good heat transfer

Hotco has an extensive range of stock flexible tapes and blanket heating elements and also custom-make heaters to specific requirements. As always, If you need assistance in designing or selecting the right industrial heater for your application our team of technicians are available to assist.
